'Gregor Johann Mendel (20 July 1822 – 6 January 1884) was a German-speaking Moravian scientist and Augustinian friar who gained posthumous fame as the founder of the modern science of genetics. Though farmers had known for centuries that crossbreeding of animals and plants could favor certain desirable traits, Mendel's pea plant experiments conducted between 1856 and 1863 established many of the rules of heredity, now referred to as the laws of Mendelian inheritance'
(Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gregor_Mendel)
The "Mendel" region is part of the Genome project on VIBE Grid. On my last trip I wrote a bit about the "Hooke" region and got a comment by Stefan Gasior, one of the persons responsible for the VIBE Grid ( I assume), which I like to publish because it as a good additional information about the project:
'The OpenSim Genome is a recreation of Max Chatnoir's Genome Island in Second Life (Mary Ann Clark, Ph.D. in RL).
The four islands cover genetics (Mendel), molecular biology (Crick), cell biology (Hooke), and Huxley is the landing platform. Mary Ann decided on separate estate managers each name Max. But, Max Chatnoir is the SL avatar most people are familiar with. If you are interested in using it for biology classes, please contact me via G+.'
With all that pre-information I like to start on my little tour over "Mendel".
Looking from a distance onto "Mendel", it's build, according to the landscape, is pretty simple. It is just flat and green with a few building structures on it. One can see a few greenhouses and an old mansion in the northwestern corner of the region, where I will start my journey.
I am not sure if the house is a historical rebuild of a house Gregor Mendel spent some time or just a fantasy build. But at least one can see an old portrait painting of Mr. Mendel in the upper floor.
From the house I walked to the so called "Garden Path". You can find a red sphere on the front wall of the house between the two entrances. This is a teleporter to the path.
At the entrance of the graden, one will see a board, showing the layout of the exhibition garden. The board will give a notecard on click, informing about the individual sections.
Because I am not much familiar with this genetics, I can't say not much to this. So I will just show some pictures of what to see in the garden. But it might be a very interesting piece for somebody who wants to know more.
I have to mention that some of the boards contain slideshows, so give it a click.
And I have to correct myself on the building, which I mistakenly called a mansion. In the exhibition one will find a teleporter saying it will teleport you to the "Abbey".
True, Gregor Mendel was a Augustinian friar, when working on his science of genetics.

Shopping: Germania 2
It's time again to check on some places for a good shopping for everybody in the virtual worlds, no matter which grid one calls home. And this is not a question if the object is for free or you have to pay for, as long as you are able to use it on your base grid.
One of those shopping areas is "Germania 2" managed by Mario Lane and to be found on the Metropolis Grid.
"Germania 2" is part of the complex "Germania", which includes a few more regions. But for this review I will concentrate on the shopping area, also called "The Old World". The layout is like an old traders and harbour village with a town square in the middle.
On the square one will find a little rezz area and a few marketstands.
The stands, which are actually coaches, contain male and female AO's.
And do not be afraid of the pillory, it's not in use at the moment.
The houses at the northern side of the square obviously are shops, as one can image by the posters which are to be seen. And so I carried my pixel body a bit closer to the outlays.
The first shop in the row offers a variety of female hairs.
Next to it the Lady will find mainly some extravagance shoes
A shop under construction follows and the last one gives away pants for both genders and some shirts.
From here I turned around to the next block of houses, passing the harbour.
The houses there are all empty but a little bakery nicely buildstanding in the back.
Walking along another pier and the row of houses there a few other shops come in view.
The first shop I come along offers a variety of things including some animations.
Skins on offer in the next house.
Male and female hairs in the last building of the row with the majority of female models.
With that I have made my tour over "Germania 2". Its not a classical mall area, but good to have a check out, if one is looking for some outfit.

Destination: Water Dreams Part 1
You better wear boots when visiting the region "Water Dreams" on the Refuge Grid. Though the platform you will land on is a wooden one, floating on the water, the pathways are just under the surface and your footwear will get virtual wet.
"Water Dreams" is mainly an area just below the watersurface with a bigger mountaineous area on the southern side of the 2 x 2 var region build by Azi Az and Danger Lytton. It has kind of a tropical character but with lots of other fantasy influences.
Arriving on the region you will find yourself on a platform with different signed destinations to go to, as there is "The Swamp", "The Cavern", "Azi's Shop".
A teleporter to "Proving Grounds" , a teleporter to "Zia's Christmas Party", a teleporter to "Danger's City of Light" and another one to "Petra".
The last signs point to a "Boat Dock", "Castle Ruins" and and "Photo Art Gallery".
Tossing a coin tells me to take the "Boat Dock" at first and then walk to the others. On my way to the Dock, I passed a funny couple (Hope they catch no flu).
At the Dock kind of a Chinese Junk is moored, but there is no gangway to enter the ship so I left to the Gallery.
And as it appears to be, the gallery is within the castle ruins walls and provide a fantastic ambiance for the exhibition.
The pictures are taken within Virtual Worlds by Azi Az and I like to show just a few of those gorgeous pieces of artwork.
And allow me to give some more impressions of the ruin as well. For the pics I choose the windlight 'Phototools - Moon Light 01'
By strolling thru the castle walls I found another gallery. Refuge grid residents exhibit their works. Which compelled me to show some of their works as well
Visitors have the possibility to vote on the pictures and artists to exhibit their works here. A big instruction board will give information how to do that.
Well, looking at my watch I notice that the time is running and I have to leave "Water Dreams", which make it a two part story out of the review. Both, Azi and Danger, build a big scenery which can't be covered in just one review and a visit takes more time than just an hour. So stay with the "Hyperzette" if you are curious about "Water Dreams" and if you can't wait on the second part, come on over and have a look by yourself (what you should do anyway).
