Entertainment: Gretel's Reconstruction

Nara's Nook Grid and the region "Pandora" is always good for surprises and so it is that I took a journey to the skybox "Gretel Reconstructed".
How to get there in short:
- Get to Nara's Nook Grid.
- On the Greyville landing area turn around and look for the teleporter board.
- Select Pandora and Click.
- On the arrival spot at Pandora, turn yourself, so you look in a western direction and start flying in that direction.
- Search for a red cylinder on the ground (that's a "telepad") and land next beside it.
- Click on the inner white cylinder and choose "Gretel Recon" from the menu.
- Click the white teleporter again and awake in 632 m on the platform of "Gretel Reconstructed". Quite easy, isn't it.

When being on the platform do four things:
a. Relax from the journey while..
b. ..reading the board on your side

When having your breathe back turn again to your right and you will see a button you should
c. click

And now hurry up.
A gingerbread house will appear in front of you and disappear as soon as it is rezzed to locate itself
on a place you have to find. In addition right of it a board with text will appear and from now on you have 5 mins.

And now
d. just follow the bread crumps. Easy you might think, but don't get lost in the snowy wood, what might happen quick

And what will happen when you see this sign in time and press the adjacent button, this you have to find out by yourself at "Gretel's Reconstruction" on Nara's Nook after the idea of Shara Lanel.

Destination & Education: NOVA

A few weeks I have visited the VIBE Grid the first time and reported about the region "Showcase". Unfortunately I made a mistake when saying it was a Swedish grid and got an comment from Stephen Gasior, who gave the right information about the grid:
' It's not a swedish grid. We are (mostly) college academics with the actual computer hosts at Northerm Michigan University.......A little information about us although admittedly under construction:
https://sites.google.com/site/virtualislandsbettereducation/'

Also I like to mention that Shadowcase is an .oar, "The Underworld" region made by Avia Bonne and Kathje Kittaj. The .oar file can be downloaded for free at the website of Minethere Always
(http://minethere.blogspot.de/2013/04/free-terrains-and-oars.html)
under the name "Tomb-Raider.oar".

With this additions I hope to have set things clearer. I have to apologize for any misunderstandings and faulty reports.

This time at VIBE my aim is to visit NOVA, a region made by Nova Saunders.
She belongs to the VIBE Team and on the VIBE website she is introduced as "Nova Archaeology Gridmaster".
(For more information see:
https://sites.google.com/site/virtualislandsbettereducation/the-team).

When you arrive at NOVA you land on a nicely build place with four information boards in front of you.
The VIBE Board will bring you to a central area within the grid, with teleporters to all the regions covered by the grid. A touch on the board will send you off immediately, if you want to stay on NOVA, don't touch it.

The next to the left side gives credits to the involved people in the creation of NOVA .

The next board to the left shows you the area covered by NOVA and the regions' names. It is teleport enabled, so a click on the region will start to move your pixels to the region.

And the last board is another informational board with books in front, giving out a Notecard, when being clicked upon. There you can read a bit about the Why's, the How's and the Who's of the project.
Plus you see Nova Saunders in her real appearance as Marion Smelzer.

Packed with all that information, I started my way to the building in my back, which came out to be an E-Learning Center.
(The Christmas decoration one can see on the pic is due to the fact that I visited the region during the holiday season)

Inside the building you have a lot to read on boards, about how an Archaeologists has to investigate and what he has to consider in her/his project. About tools she/he used and how geolocial formations are important and much more. It will give a rough overview about the work of an archaeologist. Take yourself some time and read it before you continue to explore.

Leaving this building, I headed to another bungalow close by.
Seems to be kind of a meeting and/or conference building with seating groups. On the walls one can see some photos of archaeologists at work.

Being in the northeastern corner of the region I started my way towards South, curious of what to see next.
First I cam to a point where you can change the look of your avatar. I feel well with the one I have since 2007 so I left that point out ;-)

To the right of the E-Learning Center you will find arrows on the ground you can follow.

On the way you will pass a pier with a sign saying "Underwater Archaeology". I walked on it and than through a tunnel under the watersurface. Down there you have a view onto a wreck of a ship and answers will be given to the question: "Why is Archaeology Important ?".

Here I will end my first part of the story about NOVA with the promise that there is much more to come.
With more and more educational regions are set up in the Open Sim virtual worlds the "Hyperzette" will open the new section "Education", which I hope will be as interesting as the other sections.

Destination: Honeywood

"Honeywood" is a region within the UK based Roleplaying Grid "Spellscape". To find information about it, see it's web page
http://www.spellscape.co.uk.
For this review I do not want to go to close into the roleplay idea of "Spellscape" but show a bit of the arrival area "Town Square" and adjacent.

The first building which comes in sight is the town hall. Cause the time of my visit is just after change of years and christmas, it is still decorated for the season.

Entering the building through the main portal, you will find a basic course for VW Newcomers about the main use of handling your avatar. On the other side of this hall you find the three desks of the responsible persons of the grid as there is Xander Bing, gawwain inglewood and Alicia Raven. At the time of my visit none of them were online.

From the townhall I crossed the square passed a bulletin board and headed to a shop which came in sight first glance and is called "Blue Skull"; free clothing for man. To my surprise the clothing parts are to be taken by non-residents of "Spellscape", too

As you can own land (which is not mandatory to participating in the Roleplay but optional) there is a Real Estate office next to the Clothing Store.

Spellscape is using a currency called X$ which can be purchased via using Paypal and is 4 US$ to the 1000 X$. For the exchange of this amount a transaction fee of 0.56 US$ will be charged. This is to be mentioned because some of the shops I visited are selling their stuff and you need the money. As is with "Caterwaul", another Outfitter or "Dude" or "Bad Kitty" two skin shops I found.

There might be others but I have not checked on that. Anyway, there are other shops which still offer free stuff like hairs, or female clothing, shoes or eyes to name a few.

From the look of the city it is difficult to say in what time period is settled, as it has parts looking like a bit of medieval but the city itself has a much younger look. But then again one will find a shop offering Spells, Potions and Accessories. To get those needed liquids, words and wands it need to have hard virtual currency.

"Vandenbergh Town", as the area is called, seems to be set up as a trading center for the inhabitants and maybe a meeting point with its two guesthouses the "Smugglers Inn" and "Pepperoni Pete's", the two locations I haven't mentioned yet.

Looking forward to see the first Roleplay Areas. Up to then, cheerio, see you in a few days again.
