Destination: Riff Raff

Watashidachinouchi ?? That is the sobriquet of the region "Riff Raff" build and owned by Izzie Applewhyte and Jim Jackson, whose regions are now to be found on the METROPOLIS Grid after the OSGrid meltdown.

But what about that funny name ? Because the region is build as an Asian type region I figured that the name was somewhat Chinese of Japanese language and the closest I could find was the Japanese 'Watachitachi nouchi' which means 'Our land'. But why riff raff, I do not know ?!

As I mentioned before the region is build in a relaxing Japanese style, with three bigger buildings and two smaller ones. One arrives in the middle of the region next beside one of the bigger houses. This was the one I visited first.
The house is a wooden two store building with no windows.

Due to the fact that the doors did not open I guess this is the private section of Izzie and Jim which I respected and so I followed a smaller way to the next house. The way leads through a row of cherry blossom trees.

The house is open with no walls and a koi pool on the ground level. The upper level is a bedroom with the typical Japanese floor bed

Passing a smaller hillside in the South of the region I reached the next building. The house is build shoreside with a jetty. If it would not have the double bed, I would have thought that this building would have been a bath and massage parlor......but..... to relax here is absolutely possible ;-)

Over the hill through a smaller red leave tree forest up to the next building. Which is the right place for a bit of romance

And if you like to paint, there is a possibility to do in the quietness of the region

The last house I visit is again a more private home with a typical tradintional modern mixture of Japanese interior.

For me "Riff Raff" has a more private character. A safe haven for the builders, even so they say in their regions profiles:
'RIFF RAFF: Welcome to the home of Izzie Applewhyte and Jim Jackson. Peaceful and serene Japanese builds and scenery. Go for a stroll, take in the beautiful landscaping and Asian architecture.'
So take your chance and have a visit at this peaceful region (now in METROPOLIS)

Destination: Rainbow Country

I wonder if a rainbow has that many colors as one can see on a region in the PMGrid, developed by Soror Nishi.
I know that this impossible but "Rainbow Country" ,as the region is inofficially named, for sure is one of the most colorful regions one can encounter. And the nature built on this region is a fantastic surrealistic one.

As far as I am informed the region is still under construction but visitors are welcome already.
The region itself is build on two levels.
While the low level is the more colorful the upper one's main color is white on a blue ground.

The ground on the lower level will change its colors from a bright green on the lower areas to an orange pinkish red on the higher ones.

And the best to describe the plants is not do it and let the pictures speak:

A contrast to the down level is the area above it. From a distance the blue looks like ground but coming closer one will see that it is a sea of mostly blue mushrooms on white and pink stitch type spheres.

Right in the middle of it, a surrealistic tree grows to the sky...

To get the right idea about this region it is a must to visit "Rainbow Country".

Spiral Silverstar aka Joseph Zazulak will present some of his still and moving picture made entirely using fractal computations from September 8th until October 12th.

Metroberfest 2014 on the METROPOLIS Grid

Last year the "Metroberfest" has had a more Bavarian "Oktoberfest" character, but this year the Organizers decided to give it a more 'international' ambience with a little Bavarian touch.

Still, the name of the region is "Oktoberfest" hosted by Anette Hummel. The Ladies LyAvain Swansong and Alira Vigrin had been very busy, and still are, to give the region a great looking. Meanwhile zaphod Enoch canvassed artists, traders, designers and service providers from all over the Hyperverse to participate in the "Metroberfest"

The "Metroberfest" will present events throughout the week from Monday Sep 29th til Sunday 5th, starting 20:00 CET til Midnight or later (11 am pdt til 3 pm pdt or later), with the exception at Wednesday Oct 1st, when the first event will take place at 12 pm. The music events will take place either in the big tent or on the open air area. The readings will happen in the boiler house on the open air area.

11 live musicians are booked, 3 German authors will read out of their newest publications in German language, 2 English speaking authors will read out of their publications in English language and 5 DJ's and Jane's will turn the discs for you.
At the final day we will see the big Firework by Wordfromthe Wise and Sixtus Majus.

Beside the events there is a big market, where traders and designers offer there goods or service providers inform about their services. Market booths are given to
13 traders and SP from METROPOLIS,  9 traders and SP from OSGrid (which we hope will make it), 1 from Ignis Fatuus Grid, 1 from Kitely, 1 from Nara's Nook, 1 from Craft-Grid and 1 from Franco Grid.

And an ArtParc is build up, where visual artists will show their expertise. You will see works of 8 artists from METROPOLIS, Franco Grid, Kitely and OSGrid.

The region is still closed for the public. So stay 'tuned' with the "Hyperzette" for more information to come within the next weeks.

Destination: Nihilon

It's a little land area with a small park and two buildings on it, the rest is water. That is one sees when coming to "Nihilon" on the Grid "Dorena's World". But that is only the tip of the region.

The first building I visited is a Club. It's build halfway on land and halfway into the sea. The club is called the "Rock House" with an over sized hamster welcoming the guests.

A typical club with bar, dance floor, DJ booth and relaxing zone.
But the more interesting building is the one next beside. It is hosting some kind of an underwater steampunk scientific institute.

The rooms on the upper floor are sparsely or not furnished and look as for the living, while the rooms on ground level house some offices and exhibition shelves of maritime specimens.

But the more interesting is the door system to "Cap'n Nemo's Underwater Observatory".

The first few meters one walks through a metal tube which changes to glass tubes to observe the under world of "Nihilon". Every so often the tubes end at a double door system which gives entrance to different laboratories or offices or relaxing rooms. Windows give fantastic views to the world in the water. Like crashed airplanes, fantastic underwater life and landscaping with ancient temple ruins.

The observatory itself, with its many tube floors, is a maze in itself and it takes a while to see it all. In one of the rooms you have a lock from where you can exit the system and start your diving.
And what you will experience outside you have to check by yourself. Just a few impressions as a teaser ;-)

"Nihilon" is a great region built by Anachron Young. Exploring the world will take some time and don't forget to take your diving suite with you.
